I've always made most of my clothes. In high school, every summer I took classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I thought for a long time I would go into fashion design, but as I learned more about the technical challenges of correct pattern making, draping and what goes into Haute Couture - I decided studying art history & fine arts would fulfill my creative brain the same. It did for the most part but I still always worked on my own fashion design projects. I spent more time sewing in my freshman dorm than I did studying.
Over the years, that understanding of fashion design came in handy when building tee shirt brands and later, an entire fashion brand.
Now that I am a Mother, the hardest thing is finding unique and cool (by my standard) items I want to purchase for him. So, I did that age old thing I had always done for myself (or friends). I made it. My first run of Rock Star Tees, for all of our rock star babies.
XO, Michel
